I loathe fast fashion. It makes me sick to think that a garment can cost less than my lunch. For that garment to come to fruition the fabric had to be made, then designed, cut, sewn, labelled, shipped and then sold to the consumer. All for less than a burger?!
Fast fashion is the second most polluting industry and it’s causing havoc on our environment. From carbon impact, consumption of non-renewable energy and landfill overload. In addition, it poses serious ethical issues for worker’s rights across the world. BIG brands produce huge quantities of low-quality high-turnover garments and demand low prices from their makers.
Thinking about how many of these items end up in landfill makes me sick to the stomach.
If you haven’t already you NEED to watch the documentary The True Cost. It’s available now on Netflix.
